We are Wonton Soup. An unsigned four piece band located in Newbury Park, California that plays scum pop. It’s a term we’ve coined ourselves to describe the music we play. Which is a mixture of 70s/80s punk, rock n roll, pop, indie, and everything else in between. But the heart of our sound comes from straight up guitar driven music. Our lineup right now consists Eric Williams on drums, John Williams on bass, Matt Schroeder on guitar and vocals, and me, Tyger Hernandez, on vocals and guitar as well. Our ages range from 16-19 but that doesn’t stop us from playing shows and being active in our local music scene. We’ve even toured the entire West Coast and are in the process of booking our midwest/southern tour. We’ve just finished our second EP entitled “Thank You, Come Again.” and are really stoked to finally have it out to the public. These four songs captured everything we’ve felt the past six months prior to releasing this EP, the highs, the lows, the drunk nights of bullshit, getting to know the scene we were in, and getting to know each other. It’s definitely been a wild ride even though we’ve only been a band for one year. There we’re times where I felt that every time we as a band took a step forward there was always something there to push us back. And at the time, It felt like bullshit. Nobody tells you the bullshit you have to put up with when you’re in a band. None of the older bands tell you what to look out for or what to do to become better as a band. They just sit back and watch. Yet somehow you learn how to put all these negative factors the side and keep pushing forward. And to me, that’s the beauty of it all.
